As part of Community Mental Health Transformation in Middlesbrough, you will have the opportunity to be part of a unique, recovery-focused service that supports people living with mental health challenges.
Our curriculum includes topics such as emotional resilience, confidence building, mindfulness, stress management and more — all designed to help people take control of their mental health, build confidence, and make meaningful, positive changes in their lives. We believe in teaching practical tools, sharing lived experience, and empowering people to move forward with purpose.
Overview
Teesside Mind are looking for a Recovery College Tutor who is enthusiastic, compassionate and confident in delivering engaging learning experiences.
You will create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where people feel heard, valued and empowered. Working alongside a volunteer co‑tutor with lived experience, you will co‑deliver sessions and demonstrate the impact of shared experience. You will take responsibility for preparing and delivering courses, as well as the essential follow‑up administration. You will also support the lived experience volunteers through planning, de‑briefs and ongoing encouragement.

Qualifications & Experience Required
- Hold a level 3 or equivalent qualification in health or social care
- Teaching Qualification e.g. PTLLS or equivalent or willing to complete if successful
- Facilitating group work and contributing the development of course materials
- Working in a community setting
- Working as part of a team
- Working with people who have a serious mental illness diagnosis or who have experienced severe distress
- Personal experience of mental health problems and using mental health services (desired)
Main Responsibilties
- To deliver high‑quality tuition in community settings and via Microsoft Teams across a wide range of mental health and wellbeing courses, supporting learners with diverse needs—including complex, long‑term, and mild‑to‑moderate conditions.
- To follow lesson plans and use a diverse range of learning material, tools and methods to educate learners about good mental health and general wellbeing.
- To respond to and manage risk within the service with support from senior staff.
- To provide support and guidance to lived experience volunteers during delivery and planning of group work.
- Keep up to date records using online data systems in line with policies and procedures.
- To undertake administrative duties as required using Microsoft Office 365.
- To be responsible for own Health and Safety and contribute to Health and Safety systems and safe working practices.
Working Hours
Up to full-time 36.5 hours
Salary Range
£28,500.00 per annum
