Recovery can mean different things to different people.

For some it will mean being able to cope better. For others it will mean managing their mental illness or distress well, so they are able to live a meaningful life.

We know that mental health recovery is as unique as your own fingerprint - it's all about the person, so no two recovery journeys are the same. However, we also know that with the right support there's hope for a better future.

Who is it for?

Our Recovery Support is for those who are impacted by a mental health condition or severe distress. It helps those who feel alone or that their whole life is about their mental health. It helps people understand themselves better, feel more in control and become stronger.

Recovery is about becoming an expert in your own self-care, building a new sense of self and discovering your own strengths. It's about being able to live a good life despite any ongoing challenges.

How does it work?

We don’t look at the problem, we look at you, the person, and work with you to provide coping skills to ride the waves of life.

By spending time understanding your experiences, together we can create a plan and support you to take steps to make some positive changes. This could be understanding your relationships with others or learning new ways to take care of yourself.

We can help you put coping techniques in place for when times are difficult. You might want to re-discover who you are, what you enjoy and what you want for the future.

What is the recovery star?

We use the Recovery Star to have conversations and set goals around the areas of your life where you might want to make some changes and support you to do so.

The 10 areas of the star are as follows:

  • Managing mental health
  • Physical health
  • Living skills
  • Friends and community
  • Use of time
  • Relationships
  • Addictive behaviour
  • Home
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • Trust and hope
