Mutual Minds - Peer Support
What is peer support?
Our Peer Support Workers use their experiences and empathy to support you by building relationships and trust. They walk alongside you, listen to you and share their own story to encourage you to share your story and make sense of what’s happening. They offer hope and empower you to find solutions to problems that will work for your needs.
In Peer Support, everyone's views and experiences are equally valued, no one is ‘an expert’, everyone has a part to play. What’s more, how much support you give and receive is up to you.
Who is it for?
It's for anyone working on their mental health recovery, who would find it helpful to connect with someone who has had similar experiences.
- You might want to reconnect with people or your local community but don’t know where to start.
- You might want to talk about your struggles with someone who accepts you for who you are, without judgement.
- You might want to explore your own recovery goals and build confidence in your ability to have a fulfilling life, instead of talking about your symptoms or diagnosis.
- You might want to gain inspiration and hope that change is possible and real.
- You might want support in meetings with other professionals, so that you feel empowered and heard.
Working in partnership
We're delivering Mutual Minds alongside two partners, Darlington Mind and TEWV.
Together, our team of ten friendly and experienced peer support workers are covering all areas of Teesside including Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton.
Collaborating in this way enables us to reach and support more local people and allows us to share knowledge and expertise amongst the team.
