Our Safe Haven provides practical and compassionate support out of hours for those in severe mental health distress.
It's a safe and welcoming space if you’ve reached the point where it feels like there’s no way out.
Our dedicated team is available at evenings and weekends and can offer practical and emotional support.
If you need an understanding person to listen without judgement or just somewhere safe to be when you’re feeling at your lowest, we're here for you.
Who is it for?
If you're aged 18+, experiencing severe mental health distress and you live in Redcar & Cleveland then the Safe Haven is here to help you.
We're here for you 365 days a year, out of hours, when other community based support may not be available.
How can the Safe Haven help you?
We know it's important to get the right support when you need it.
We’ll work with you to manage your emotions and find support to tackle practical issues affecting your mental health.
What can you expect?
- A calming, non judgemental and private environment
- A conversation about your needs and situation
- Intervention, support and advice to de-escalate mental health crisis
- The opportunity to discuss planning, coping skills and relaxation techniques
- Discussion and planning for next steps
- Peer support and self-help resources
- Signposting to further support
Everyone's needs are different so the Safe Haven offers a variety of support
- A safe and relaxing space - where you can be yourself and access de-stressing and calming activities, talk to our peer support workers or take some time for yourself
- One-to-one support - with a member of our team, face-to-face or over the phone, to explore ways to cope and how to manage your crisis
- Practical advice - information about other services that might be helpful to you
When is the Safe Haven open?
We're here for those who are experiencing severe mental health distress.
Our team are here for you every day, 365 days a year from 4pm - 10:30pm - you can call us from 3:30pm every day though if you're looking to drop in.
As the service is new and evolves to meet demand, we're asking people to call to speak to one of the team so we can make sure we're ready to support you.
