Beyond Children's Mental Health Week
Last week was Children's Mental Health Week and we visited 12 schools to deliver assemblies, group sessions and resources, helping over 4,000 local children. Awareness campaigns are a great way to focus attention on the need to support the mental health of our young people, but our ongoing work in school settings is what we’re most proud of.
Schools in Mind is just one of our services for children and young people and can be commissioned by any school across Teesside. We work collaboratively with schools and parents to develop a package of support that’s tailored to the needs of the school, and most importantly, that works for the children and young people. In the last year we supported 462 children and young people across 23 schools.
Lauren, is an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner within our Schools in Mind team and works with schools supporting children with a diverse range of needs and issues. She worked with Lucy, aged 16, to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience after she had struggled with social anxiety and low mood.

I found sessions so helpful, I'm so thankful Lauren could help with my confidence especially right before my GCSE's. I feel so much happier and confident walking into school or in a large group of people which is something I never thought I could do!

I'm so happy Lucy had Lauren to talk to. She can be very sensitive in situations and struggles to open up but Lauren has had the patience to guide and advise her when as parent, she struggles to open up us.

We're incredibly grateful for Lauren who truly prioritises our students’ mental health. Her support, collaboration, and care make a real difference in helping our young people feel seen, heard, and supported every day.
